New Diagnostics

As medical care continues to advance throughout the Dominican Republic, the need for more advanced diagnostic equipment has become increasingly evident. In February, a new CT scanner and C-Arm system arrived at the Christian Clinic for Integral Health (CCSI). This state-of-the-art diagnostic technology will greatly improve the services they are able to provide to the community.

With the addition of these advanced imaging systems—alongside the continued use of their new ultrasound—CCSI is moving closer to its goal of becoming a true “one-stop shop” for comprehensive diagnostic and specialty care. These enhancements will allow for faster diagnoses, more precise procedures, and an overall higher standard of patient care for the region.

From Seed to Service

In October 2025 we launched the From Seed to Service campaign with a goal to raise $1.2 million over the next 2 years. As of today we have raised $460,413.86 toward our goal. These funds will be used to cover operational costs until diagnostic revenue begins to realize, as well as to support ongoing maintenance and future equipment needs. We are so thankful for the way God continues to provide for the ministry through finances and medical teams that are willing to serve with their talents.

Volunteer Spotlight: Steve Shaffer

In 1976, Steve Shaffer made his first trip to the Dominican Republic. This year marks his 50th year of faithful service in the San Juan Valley. We are deeply grateful for his dedicated volunteer service and exceptional leadership in organizing and leading mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Through an unwavering commitment, compassion, and a servant’s heart, Steve’s leadership has made a lasting impact on countless lives and communities.  During the first week of February, Steve guided a team through a meaningful journey down memory lane, remembering the faithfulness of God over the years and rejoicing in the work He continues to do today.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

The Blood Bank

In the first quarter of 2026 we have had 12 pints of blood donated.  We are so thankful for the opportunity to be able to provide this for the clinic.

Coming Soon: Dominican Staff Appreciation Month

You are invited to join us once again during the month of May as we celebrate Dominican Staff Appreciation Month! We are excited to highlight several key staff members who play important roles in helping our ministry run both efficiently and effectively.  This year our theme is God never forgets your faithful work, inspired by Hebrews 6:10. You can get involved by helping us provide an abundance of love and support through prayer, encouraging words, and giving. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 to support the staff as a whole. Thank you for your participation as we show some extra love to our staff this May! Watch for more information coming soon.

Meet Michael Piña

Michael Piña joined our full-time staff as the barrio coordinator in January 2026. Michael plays a vital role in preparing and supporting the North American medical teams that serve rural communities in and around the province of San Juan. His responsibilities include assisting with team preparation in areas such as pharmacy, orientation, organization of supplies, and site communication. While working on-site with a group, Michael also helps Dominican providers with team communication, oversees the distribution of donations, and ensures that referrals are directed properly for follow-up care.

Hector faithfully served with Solid Rock International beginning in January 2012, making a lasting impact in so many ways. Over the years, he has worn many hats—Ministry Assistant, Spanish instructor for SRI missionaries, Outreach Coordinator, and most recently Director of Operations from July 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025. His dedication, leadership, and heart for ministry have strengthened our team and expanded our reach. We are deeply grateful for his commitment and the countless lives he has touched. Thank you, Hector, for your years of service and for giving your very best!

Thank you Angel!

Angel began serving as a Ministry Assistant in May 2022 and faithfully stepped into the role of full-time Barrio Coordinator throughout 2025. Angel’s service was marked by faith, humility, and a deep love for God’s people. His leadership and obedience to God’s call have made a lasting impact on the San Juan community and the ministry of SRI. While we will miss having Angel serve alongside us, we trust God’s hand over his next season and rejoice in all that lies ahead.
